2014 1/2 gram Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep gold coin

Have a look at this tiny little gold coin. This is the 1/2 gram Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep coin from the Royal Canadian Mint. It is smaller than a dime and made of 99.99% gold. I am a huge fan of these tiny gold coins (you can probably tell from my blog posts and videos) and I really like this one. It is amazing the level of detail they were able to put of the sheep's head and horns - it looks really excellent. Have a look at the video to see more detail (and to see the other 1/2 gram gold coins I have).

Have faith in your silver/gold investing knowledge

There is a lot of investing information out there from a lot of sources - web sites, articles, books, videos, etc. A majority of it is great, but some of it is bad. Same goes for the other investors you interact with - some are very knowledgeable but some really are not. Trouble is, often times the worst information is often coming from the loudest people. In this video I talk about trusting your own investing knowledge and not feeling that someone else is correct just because they are loud/popular/experienced.

Another instalment of MapleLeafCoins' Top 5 silver and gold YouTube videos. This time for December 2013. Enjoy!

How to tell if your one cent coins are copper

Did you know that most of us have copper coins in our everyday change? Yep! Some circulation one cent coins from the USA are made of 95% copper. This is a great way to start building up copper as an investment since you do not need to actually purchase anything - just look in your change. The only tricky part is figuring out which of the coins contain copper and which do not. This video shows two incredibly easy ways to sort the copper coins from the regular ones. Happy hunting!

20 for 20 Series: 2014 Canada Goose silver coin

Here it is - the 11th coin in the Royal Canadian Mint's 20 for 20 series - the 2014 Canada Goose. For those of you who don't know, each of these coins is 1/4 ounce of 99.99% pure silver. The coins have a $20 face value and could originally be bought from the mint for exactly $20 (no fees, no taxes, no nothing). This coin had a mintage of 225,000 and, like all of the coins in the series, sold out quickly. This video shows the coin in more detail and also shows the other 10 coins in the series.

Is copper bullion a good investment?

Most of the time we talk about gold and silver, the big two for metal investors. But what about the often forgotten copper? More specifically, what about pure copper bullion? In this video I look at the pros and cons of investing in copper bullion and talk about if it is worth it for us investors. My analysis is straightforward and something that most metal investors will probably agree with. Take a look.

20 for 20 Series: 2013 Santa silver coin

This is the 10th coin in the Royal Canadian Mint's $20 for $20 series. In this series of coins, you get a 1/4 ounce pure silver coin with a $20 face value for $20 Canadian (with no extra fees or taxes or markup if you buy directly from the Canadian Mint). I love these because, if times get tough, I can trade them back in for exactly what I paid for them ($20).

This coin is a holiday themed coin featuring Santa on it. I personally like this one better than the last holiday coin in the series - the Magical Reindeer. Have a look at the video to get a better idea of the coin and to hear my full review.

Join me to stack more silver/gold - Ounce A Month Club

As I mentioned previously, my goal for 2014 is to do everything I can to stack one extra ounce of silver per month. I already have a silver investing budget that I use for purchases every month, so this extra ounce is over and above that. Really, I want to keep pushing myself a little further and really maximizing my investments. When I originally posted about this idea there were quite a few people who were interested in doing it too. To help make this a community-type event, this video invites anyone and everyone to participate in this "Ounce a Month Club". I will keep a list of everyone that is participating so we can help motivate and inspire each other. Happy stacking everyone!

Review of Walker and Morgue Anne Zombucks silver/copper rounds

For Christmas I got a few of the Zombucks 1 ounce rounds that are produced by Provident Metals. They are zombie-themed rounds and have some pretty fun designs that play of famous coins. The ones I got were the Walker - based on the Walking Liberty - in both silver and copper, and the Morgue Anne - based on the Morgan dollar - in silver. I had seen a lot about these rounds online so I was pretty excited to get them. The only problem is that they were not nearly up to the quality I would expect. Have a look at my video to get more information about why I think these are a terrible product.

Happy New Years to all the stackers out there!

The new year is here - 2014. Hopefully it is a great year for everyone out there. I hope everyone has a fantastic year and meets all of their investment goals. Also, here is to hoping the value of our precious metals skyrocket!

Ounce a Month Club - Getting extra silver and gold

I have been investing in gold and silver for a while now. I have a fixed amount that I save each and every month, so I am doing a pretty good job of meeting my investment goals. But in 2014 I want to take it one step further - I want to save even more. To do this I am going to push myself to buy one extra ounce of silver per month (in addition to what I already buy). Watch this video for more info.

Merry Stacking Christmas from MapleLeafCoins!

I am a big fan of Christmas, so I wanted to spread to joy by wishing a merry Christmas to all of my fellow investors out there. Happy holidays!

Can we achieve generational wealth?

It is the dream of every investor - having enough wealth for themselves but also enough for their family. And not just right now, but for generations to come. This type of generational wealth exists in the upper-class of every country in the world. But if we were not born wealthy, can we achieve generational wealth? Is it the type of thing we can build from the ground up? I talk about those issues in this video and give my insights on it.

Surprising taxes on gold and silver

When most of us outside of the USA think of taxes in the USA, we think they are quite low. I know I thought that. That is why I was so surprised to find out the taxes that exist on gold and silver purchases in many areas of the USA. I discuss these taxes and my thoughts on them in this video.

MapleLeafCoins' Top 5 Silver/Gold Coin Videos - September 2013

Another instalment of my Top 5 YouTube videos segment. This time I look at the top 5 videos from September 2013. Enjoy!

Silver and gold Christmas presents

Christmas (or any day that involves presents) are ideal for the gift of gold and silver. I know that when I get gold and silver I am a very happy person. In this video I discuss giving (and receiving) precious metals as gifts. Are they right for everyone? Is it something that is easy to give? Watch the video and find out more.

Three questions to ask yourself about precious metals

What are your underlying beliefs as a precious metals investor? What we think we believe and what we actually, deep down, believe are often two different things. As an investor we should always try and keep the two sets of beliefs in line with each other so that our every day actions help achieve the goals we have. To help determine our underlying investment beliefs I ask three simple questions and use the answers to help us find out more about ourselves as investors. Take a look at the video and try for yourself!

Crossing international borders with precious metals

In the world today it is very easy to travel or move to a new country. But what about if we want to bring our precious metals with us when we cross international borders? This could be if we bought some gold or silver bullion while on vacation or if we needed to transport our entire stack if we were moving. The rules and regulations are different for every country, but in this video I talk about some of the general considerations that we need to take into account.

Moving with a gold/silver stack

Sometimes we need to move. It could be across the city, across the country, or across the world. There are so many things we need to think of when we are moving - it takes a lot of our time, energy and money. But that is just for a regular move - what is we are moving with physical investments like gold or silver? Transporting our gold and silver stack takes even more planning. In this video I talk about some of the things we need to consider when moving with precious metals. This includes things to consider before the move, during the move and after the move.

Is MapleLeafCoins now SilverEagleCoins?

Big news! I recently moved from Canada to the USA. Not only is this a big change for my life but it also has a huge impact on my investing. In this video I talk about the move and how I see it changing the way I invest in gold and silver.

O Canada Series - 2013 Canadian Summer Fun silver coin

Another coin from the Royal Canadian Mint's 1/2 ounce O Canada series. This is the 5th coin in the series and is the 2013 Canadian Summer Fun. This one has some pretty nice artwork that shows a typical fun summer day for people in Canada. Out at their cottage, a family is relaxing, swimming and generally having a great time. This coin has great artwork on it and is really nice to look at. For a closer look and more information, watch the video.

Some serious thoughts about gold/silver inheritance

Think about how much time you have spent thinking about gold/silver investing. You have spend time reading articles, watching videos, finding deals and making purchases. All of this has resulted in you having a great stack of gold/silver that you have invested in. But what if you pass away unexpectedly? Will your family know where you have it stored? How much it is worth? How to invest in more or sell it if necessary? This video talks about gold/silver inheritance and things all of us need to take into consideration.

Don't sweat the small things with silver/gold (too much)

Most of us are already sold on precious metals investing - and because we like precious metals so much we look into every aspect of gold/silver investing. The trouble is, we often get so caught up debating and arguing minor details that we forget we are all on the same team - the precious metals team. In this video I talk about how we need to take a step back, look at the big picture and realize the small details don't matter as much as long as we are all investing in precious metals.

O Canada Series - 2013 Niagara Falls silver coin

This is the 7th coin in the Royal Canadian Mint's O Canada series. This one is the 2013 Niagara Falls coin and came with a collector box to store the entire collection. Of all the designs, I think this is my least favourite of them. The art just didn't jump out at me - I don't think they did a great job capturing the beauty of Niagara Falls. Have a look for yourself.

Silver bullion that develops premium prices - silver coins vs silver rounds

Some times, on rare occasions, investment-grade silver will develop a premium over time so you are able to sell it for a good amount over the spot price. This is rare but it does happen so I put this video together to discuss what is more likely to develop these premiums - silver coins or silver rounds. This is based on my years of experience and what I have seen happen. Have a look and let me know what you think.

Silver coins vs Silver rounds - My personal preference

This is a topic I get asked about all the time. Spend any amount of time talking to precious metals investors and you will likely hear a debate about whether it is better to invest in silver coins or silver rounds. In the video I talk about the difference between coins and rounds, the pros and cons of each, and give my personal preference. It makes for an interesting discussion, so have a look.

2013 Bald Eagle 1/25 oz gold coin

Another tiny gold coin for my collection. This is another one of the 1/25 ounce gold coins from the Royal Canadian Mint. This one features a bald eagle - an animal we traditionally associate with the USA but there are actually quite a few in Canada as well. Watch the video to get a better look and more details.

Can gold and silver work for you?

We often hear the term "left your money work for you". It seems to be the go-to slogan of the financial industry and something they think everyone should strive for. Letting your money work for you is certainly possibly with traditional investing, but can precious metals "work for us" in that way? In this video I look to answer that question and discuss the implications.

O Canada Series - 2013 Polar Bear

The 4th coin in the Royal Canadian Mint's O Canada Series - the 2013 Polar Bear. I think this has been a great series of coins so far. The artwork has been great, the theme of each coin has been great, just overall a well thought out and well done series. Like the other coins in this series, this one is 1/2 ounce of 99.99% pure silver. Have a look at the video for more detail.

When our gold/silver bullion preferences change

As investors, we are constantly watching videos, reading articles and doing other things to increase our knowledge. Similarly, the more we buy/sell the more we learn about the process and what is the best to buy and sell. Because of all of this information, our investment preferences will likely change over time. I know mine have. In this video I talk about how my gold/silver investing preferences have changed over the years - and I think they changed for the better.

O Canada Series - 2013 Royal Canadian Mounted Police

Here is another coin in the Royal Canadian Mint's O Canada series. This is the 3rd coin in the series - the 2013 Royal Canadian Mounted Police coin. Each coin in this series is 1/2 ounce of 99.99% pure silver. I think they did a great job with this coin - absolutely stunning artwork. Watch the video to have a closer look.
